Coneshare
Share documents and data rooms through tracked links, with passwords, expiry, and view analytics.
by Coneshare
Overview
Coneshare is a self-hosted alternative to DocSend. Upload a document or build a multi-file data room, then share it through a link you control: add a password, an expiry date, or a watermark, and see who opened it and which pages they read. Everything lives on your own server.
Features
- Share links for single documents or whole data rooms, with passwords, expiry dates, and watermarks
- Page-by-page view analytics: who opened a link, when, and how long they spent on each page
- Non-disclosure agreements a viewer must accept before they can open a link
- File requests, so other people can upload documents back to you
- Q&A on a shared link, so a viewer can ask a question without an account
- Document versioning, so a new upload keeps the same share link
- Connect your own Google Drive, Dropbox, or Nextcloud account to share files straight from there
Setting up
Sign in with the administrator account set at install. Fill in the administrator username, email, and password in this app's install form; self-service sign-up is off, so this is the only account you get for free. Add more users from inside the app afterwards.
Good to know
Sending signature or access-request notices by email works once an administrator adds an outgoing email account in moose's Settings and binds it to this app. Until then, a link still records visits and access requests; it just does not email anyone about them. Do not turn on email verification for a link until mail is set up: the viewer is told a link was sent, but it never arrives, so they cannot open the document.
Connecting Google Drive, Dropbox, or Nextcloud is done from inside the app's own settings, with your own account for that service.
