Overview

Coolify is an open-source platform for deploying software. You connect your own servers, and Coolify builds and runs your apps on them from a Git repository or a Docker image. It also runs databases, sets up domains and HTTPS, and makes backups. On moose, Coolify runs as the control panel. The apps it deploys run on servers you add, not on your moose box.

Features

  • Deploy from GitHub, GitLab, Gitea or any Git URL, or from a Docker image
  • Databases such as Postgres, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB and Redis, with scheduled backups
  • One-click services from a built-in template list
  • Domains and HTTPS on the servers you manage
  • A terminal and live logs in the browser
  • Teams and projects, with API tokens for scripts

Setting up

Open the app and register. The first account becomes the admin, and registration closes after it, so make your own account right after install. Then add a server: Coolify shows an SSH key, you add it to the server's authorized_keys, and Coolify connects over SSH. Deploys start from there.

Good to know

  • You need a server of your own. The built-in "localhost" server does not work on moose, because Coolify cannot reach the box it runs on. Add at least one remote server over SSH before you deploy anything.
  • Register right after install. Until the first account exists, anyone who can open the app's address can register and become the admin. After that, Coolify closes registration.
  • Coolify cannot update itself here. moose owns the version, so the in-app upgrade button does nothing. Updates arrive as new catalog versions.
  • Webhooks and server metrics need a public address. Git webhooks and the metrics your servers push back reach Coolify only on a hosted box. On an appliance, deploys over SSH still work, but pushes from outside your network do not.
  • The servers need internet access and Docker. Coolify installs Docker on a fresh server when you ask it to.
