Grafana
Dashboards and alerts for your metrics, logs and other data, from many sources.
by Grafana Labs
Overview
Grafana turns data into dashboards. You connect it to the places your data already lives, such as Prometheus, InfluxDB, Loki, MySQL or PostgreSQL, and build charts, tables and gauges from it. Alert rules watch the same data and tell you when something goes wrong.
Features
- Dashboards with many kinds of panels: graphs, tables, gauges, maps and more
- Connect many data sources at once and mix them on one dashboard
- Explore, to query a data source by hand and look at logs and traces
- Alert rules with notifications by email, webhook, Slack and many others
- Share a dashboard with people who have no account, through a public link
- Thousands of extra data sources and panels from the plugin catalog
Setting up
Sign in with the admin account. The app makes the password for you. Open the app page in the store and copy it:
- Username:
admin - Password: shown on the app page
Then add a data source under Connections. Grafana has no data of its own, so a dashboard stays empty until it can read from one.
Good to know
The password on the app page is the first one. If you change it inside Grafana, the app page still shows the old one.
The common data sources are built in and work without internet. Grafana uses the internet to install plugins from grafana.com, and on its first start it downloads a few optional helper apps, such as the Drilldown pages. Usage reports, update checks and the news feed are turned off, and so is the button that publishes a snapshot to Grafana's public snapshot service.
Email alerts and invites work once you connect a mail provider to this app in moose. Webhook, Slack and other alert channels work without one.
Public dashboard links and snapshot links work for people with no account. On a home box they open only on your home network, and so do the links in alert messages.
